Super Saver Filly Steals Indy Oaks in the Slop

High Dollar Woman (Super Saver), a second out maiden winner over recent GI Acorn S. heroine Curalina (Curlin) in the Saratoga mud last summer, broke through with a career high here. A front-running allowance victress at Parx last December, she closed out her tenure for trainer Tony Dutrow with a well-beaten fifth-place finish behind champion Take Charge Brandi (Giant’s Causeway) in the Martha Washington S. at Oaklawn Jan. 31. She resurfaced for Steve Hobby with a second-place finish going six furlongs in the slop here in a $40,000 optional tagger June 26. Sent to the front by Joe Rocco Jr., High Dollar Woman posted splits of :24.21 and :48.04 and fended off constant pursuer Sweetgrass to take it by a measured length. Favored Oceanwave rallied for third. High Dollar Woman’s dam Melissa Jo (Fusaichi Pegasus), runner-up in the 2008 GIII Old Hat S., produced a filly by Mineshaft in 2013; a filly by Bellamy Road in 2014; and a filly by Medaglia d’Oro in 2015. Melissa Jo was acquired by WinStar Farm for $210,000 while in foal to Bernardini at the 2010 KEENOV sale.
